This is incorrect and should be deleted. This portrait by Tadema is of the architect Alfred Waterhouse ! |

John William Waterhouse is one of my favourite artists of all time; his works Hylas and the Nymphs, and Saint Cecilia, as well as Ophelia hang on my wall. I am in the process of collecting more of his works, and often seek inspiration from his paintings in my own work (this site has been rather helpful in that). I remember the first time that I ever saw a painting by waterhouse. It was a framed print of "The lady of Shallot"(boat). It hung on the wall just behind my desk in literature my senoir year of high school. I saw that painting five days a week. It spoke to my soul, The wanting in her eyes. It was something that I knew aswell. As I have grown, so has my love for the work of this brilliant artist. Now I wake each morning with that same painting just above where I lay to rest. I am constantly reminded that beauty still exsists in this world and that as long as I can see it myself I can share it with those around me. Thank you for sharing this beauty of Waterhouse with so many! |
