	I am a teacher at a distance eudcation school. One of the WWI soldiers we study (Ellis Silas) was an artist and visited the Circe in Adelaide in 1914 before sailing to war. He met a lady friend in Melbourne who he called his 'Waterhouse lady', so we wanted to see what a 'Waterhouse lady' looked like!! We then found this website, which showed us that his lady must have been a bit of alright! Silas served on Gallipoi for 3 weeks, before being evacuated with a condition like shell shock. 	I saw The Lady of Shalott when I was a child and fell in love with it completely. This site is really a treasure to me. I find the portraits of mythological or fictional women especially enchanting- Juliet, Ophelia, Ariadne, Psyche- and I also love how Waterhouse uses such bright and dark and rich colours.
